NPC wins national football league

BUTWAL, Jan 18: Nepal Police Club (NPC) won the A Division National Football League title after Three Star Club (TSC) held Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) for a 1-1 draw on Tuesday at ANFA Technical Center Ground, Butwal.

After the result, NPC’s 20 points from 8 matches became unattainable to any other teams in the league. MMC, in second place, now has 16 points.

Both the teams have a game in hand before the 10-team event concludes on Sunday. TSC is placed at seventh place with 10 points, equal to that of Army Club.

On Tuesday, African player Karilh Isah put TSC ahead four minutes before the break. MMC’s Anil Gurung scored an equalizer on 82nd minute before Zambo missed a crucial penalty.

Referee Sudish Pandey red-carded Bijay Dhimal in the tense match, two minutes before the final whistle giving a lifeline to MMC. Zambo hit the pole ending MMC’s hopes to making the final match against NPC the title-decider
